A Meeting of Minds: CERT and Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM) Discuss International Collaboration

Dr. Mohamed Baka, CEO of the Center of Excellence for Applied Research and Training (CERT), and Datuk Dr. Mohd Nizom Sairi, CEO Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM), met to explore potential areas of collaboration in tax administration education. This meeting took place in the presence of delegations from the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM), Malaysia Tax Academy (MTA) and CERT’s representatives.

The two leaders discussed frameworks for international cooperation in Tax Administration capacity-building in line with international best practices. The collaboration will enable the exchange of expertise in certification programs in Tax Administration operations, including tax registration, tax-payer relations, tax audit and tax policy. Members of the Delegation IRBM and MTA were: Madam Wan Ramiza Wan Ghazali, Deputy CEO (Management); Mr. Roszamman Md Nawi, Director Malaysian Tax Academy; Mr. Zahari Ali, Director Human Management Department; Mr. Saidul Sahri Alkamal, Special Task Secretary to the CEO.

Dr. Mohamed Baka, CEO of CERT, expressed the positive outlook of this cooperation that synergizes good practices of tax academies around the world, for the development of the taxation ecosystem in the UAE. CERT and its Tax Academy are increasingly building a global network of partners across government entities, multilateral organizations and professional bodies, to support the goals of national competitiveness of the UAE taxation talent.
